Caring for the generation
that first cared for us.

Freda Ferguson

Mrs Freda Ferguson is quite the remarkable woman. She has led a most interesting and exciting life, travelling and living all over the world with her late husband, Bill – a veterinarian who worked with the colonial office in Africa and latterly with UN agency ‘FAO.’ Freda and Bill eventually settled down in Edinburgh. Their sons, Ewan and Alastair, are regular visitors to the family home there.

Freda is a wonderfully social person. She is determined to continue living in her beautiful home and to keep close relationships with family and friends, despite a diagnosis of dementia.

Bright Care first started to care for Freda for just a few hours in the evenings. Our relationship has grown so that Freda now enjoys the benefits of a live-in carer, dedicated to looking after her 24 hours a day.

With a little help from Bright Care, Freda remains independent, fulfilled and safe with her dignity, being respected by the Bright Care team around her. Despite the diagnosis of dementia, Freda’s days continue to have a purpose, just as before.

We are very pleased with the help and support being delivered by Bright Care to my mother. It has enabled her to continue living in her own house and enjoy a quality of life and independence which would not be possible in a retirement home. The Bright Care Carers are genuinely caring people and enjoy making a difference to their clients’ lives.” – Alastair, Son, May 2017
